Eligibility Required for JEE Main Exam

Students who want to appear in JEE Exam 2017 are required to know about eligibility criteria. Only those contenders are eligible to apply who fulfill all norms. So if you want to participate in JEE Main then you should look on requirements as mentioned below:

Mathematics subject along with min 75% marks (Aggregated) and 65% in case of applicant belonging to SC/ST category orbe in top 20 percentile.

Note: Students who have cleared their 12th exam (or equivalent) in 2014, 2015 or 2016 are eligible. Candidates who will appear for their 12th exam (or equivalent) in 2017 are eligible.

Number of Subjects

The exam qualification criteria for JEE Main specified that intrigued Applicants ought to show up for no less than five subjects in their Class XII or proportionate qualifying examination.

In this way, applicants who studied only four subjects in their Class XII or proportional qualifying examination were not permitted to sit for JEE Main.

Age Limitations

  • The upper age of applying candidates should not be more than 24 years as on 1 October 2015.

JEE Main Exam Pattern and Syllabus

JEE Main Paper I: This is for candidates who want to apply for B.Tech/B.E. JEE Main question paper includes 90 OMC questions which are asked from Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics. Candidates have to mark only one option for each question out of four options given. One-fourth marks will be deducted for every incorrect answer. However no deduction if no option is marked

Counselling Procedure

Applied candidates who will qualify in JEE Main Exam they will eligible to appear in counseling. Appliers are informed that JEE Main Counselling 2017 will commence from the first week 1st of July, 2017. Counselling process will be done through online mode. It will be organized by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) and CSAB (Central Seat Allocation Board). Counselling has been divided into four rounds. First three rounds will be organized by JoSAA while the fourth round is a special counselling round which will be conducted by CSAB.
