Overview of Paper Pattern

  • Exam modeUnion Public Service Commission will be conducting NDA/ NA (II) 2017 in pen paper based offline mode.
  • Number of papers– There are two papers– Mathematics and General Ability Test.
  • Exam duration– The candidates can attempt questions in five hours (two hours and thirty minutes for each paper).
  • Total marks– The question paper will carry total of 900 marks.
  • Marking Scheme– UPSC follows a negative marking scheme. According to the exam pattern 0.33 of the total marks assigned to that question will be deducted as penalty.

NDA Preparation Tips:
  • To score good marks candidate must have to follow these preparation tips:
  • Firstly candidates need to concentrate on studies.
  • Check NDA Exam syllabus and pattern before starting preparation for exam.
  • Candidate must prepare for the exam according to syllabus and exam pattern.
  • Candidate should avoid using mobile phones while preparing for exam.
  • Candidate must study in late at night on in early morning.

Personality Test/Interview:

Candidates who qualify written test then will be called for personality test followed by intelligence and physical test. Candidates must check www.joinindianarmy.nic.in, www.joinindiannavy.gov.in, www.careerairforce.nic.in websites to get information about interview date and center. Service Selection Board will decide the pattern for NDA interview process. It includes two stages for selection that is Stage I and Stage II. Stage I consist of Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) tests and Picture Observation Description Test (PP&DT). Candidates have to qualify this test by giving mixture of both. Stage II consists of interview, Group Testing Officer Tasks, Psychology Tests and the Conference. Duration of these test are of four days.  Candidate first has to qualify stage I and after that he/she will be called for Stage II process.

NDA is an entrance exam conducted at national level to recruit candidates in defence services such as Army, Navy and Air Force. Candidates who satisfy the eligibility norms shall apply for NDA I & II paper. National Defence Academy involves two way selection process.
