National Entrance Screening Test is an Entrance Test for Admission to 5 years integrated M. Sc programmes in NISER, Bhubaneswar and UM–DAE CEBS, Mumbai. NEST Eligibility Criteria 

Candidates who are applying against NEST Notification must have met the eligibility criteria!! Appliers should have passed class XII examination or its equivalent from any recognized Board in India in the years 2015 or 2016 or appearing for the same in 2017. Applying contenders must be regular science stream only and preferably should have any combination of three subjects among Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics in classes XI and XII.

Aspirants applying for NEST Notification must have score 60% marks in aggregate (or equivalent grade) in Class XII (or equivalent) examination from any recognized Board in India. For Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) candidates and for Persons with Disability (PD), the minimum requirement is 55%. Unreserved Category appliers and OBC category aspirants born on or after August 01, 1997 are eligible to apply against National Entrance Screening Test. However, age relaxation is provided by 5 years to SC/ST/PD category candidates.

Reservation of Seats

There are about 47 seats vacant in University of Mumbai – Department of Atomic Energy Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences (UM–DAE CEBS) Mumbai and 172 seats in National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER) Bhubaneswar. Candidates who belong to certain categories will be provided seats in accordance with the rules of the Government of India. Reservations of Seats for different categories are as follows:

NEST Exam

National Entrance Screening Test will be held on 27th May 2017 (Saturday) from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM. This entrance test for admission in to 5 years integrated M. Sc programmes will be conducted at 60 centres all over the country. Authorities of NISER, Bhubaneswar and UM–DAE CEBS, Mumbai will prepare Merit List of the candidates on the basis of their performance in NEST. This merit list will published on official website on 16th June 2017.

Candidates who have successfully qualified this entrance test will be asked to participate in admission/counseling process and the admission will strictly be made according to the Merit List. General and OBC categories candidates need to remit an amount of Rs.700/- and SC/ST/PD categories and female candidates are required to submit Rs.350/– towards application fee. Application Fee can be remit using credit card/debit card/net–banking of more than 40 banks through online payment gateway.

NEST Exam Pattern & NEST Syllabus

Question paper of National Entrance Screening Test will be based on the syllabus of NCERT/ CBSE science (class XI–XII). Questions in paper will be intended to test analytic abilities and comprehension of scientific passages. Question paper will divided into five sections having multiple type questions. Section 1 is General section having 30 marks and all other sections will be of 50 marks having questions from Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics. Appliers are allowed to attempt as many subject–sections as they wish.
