Brief Detail of Tamil Nadu State

Tamil Nadu is one of the 29 states of India. This state is also called The Land of Tamils’ or ‘Tamil Country’. State was formed in 26th January 1950. The capital and the largest city of state is Chennai. Tamil Nadu lies in the southernmost part of the Indian Peninsula and is bordered by the union territory of Puducherry and the South Indian states of Kerala, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh. On the north, it is bounded by the Eastern Ghats, Nilgiri, the Anamalai Hills, and Kerala on the west. In the east it is covered by the Bay of Bengal, on the southeast by the Gulf of Mannar and the Palk Strait, and by the Indian Ocean on the south. The state shares a maritime border with the nation of Sri Lanka.
