Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)

These questions are objective in nature and each question will have choice of four answers, out of which the candidate has to mark the correct answer. Each question carries 1 or 2 marks questions in all the sections.

Numerical Answer Questions

There will be no choices available for these types of questions. A Numeric Answer question carries 1 or 2 marks questions in all sections.

The answer for these questions is a real number to be entered by using mouse and virtual keypad displayed on the monitor. No negative marking for these questions.

Types of Questions in GATE 2019

These questions carry 1 or 2 marks each in all papers and sections.

All the questions will be objective in nature with a choice of four answers, out of which the candidate has to mark the correct answer(s).

Questions will contain 1 or 2 marks each in all papers and sections.

These questions carry 1 or 2 marks each in all papers and sections.

The answer given for these questions will be real numbers.

All the questions are compulsory to attempt by candidates.

Candidates must key in the answer using the virtual keypad (The keyboard of the computer will be disabled).

Detailed GATE Exam Pattern 2019

GATE Paper Structure for Various Papers

  • There will be carried 15% marks of total marks, General Aptitude section will contain 15% marks and rest of the 70% marks will be contained by the core subject of the paper in the papers of AE, AG, BT, CE, CH, CS, EC, EE, IN, ME, MN, MT, PE, PI, TF and XE, Engineering.
  • General Aptitude section will carry 15% of the total marks and remaining 85% marks will be carried by the core subject of the paper in the papers AR, CY, EY, GG, MA, PH and XL.
  • In General Aptitude section 5 questions of 1 Mark and 5 questions of 2 marks.
  • Question paper other than GG, XE and XL will contain 25 questions of 1 mark and 30 questions of 2

Graduate Aptitude Test In Engineering Pattern For XE Paper

  • In section A, 11 questions (7 questions of 1 mark and 4 questions of 2 marks) will be asked from Engineering Mathematics.
  • This section is compulsory to attempt.
  • Any two of XE sections B to H contains 22 questions (9 questions carrying 1 mark and 13 questions carrying 2 marks)

  • Aspirants who want to apply for XL Exam they can get paper structure here and start their preparation accordingly.
  • This paper will be conducted for chemistry subjects, applicants have to attempt this section.
