Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) is all set to start JEE Advanced Counselling from 15/06/2017 to 26/06/2017. Candidates who want to get seat in IITs, NITs, IIEST, IIITs; they can check the JoSAA, CSAB Schedule and Online Counseling Dates from this page.  Those students who have successfully qualified in JEE Advanced 2017, are advised to register themselves for JEE Advance Counseling Session as the choice filling process will be starts from 20/06/2017. Seat Allotment of JEE Advanced 2017 will be organized by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) on 28/06/2017. Candidates who have shortlisted in the JEE Advance entrance test, will be called for JEE Advanced 2017 counselling as per the ranks secured by them.

Around 23 IITs including ISM Dhanbad is going to be participate in the JEE Advanced counselling 2017 and providing approximately 11,000 B.E/B.Tech seats to the eligible candidates. After all the process done in the JoSAA Counselling, candidates have to report to the allotted college and submit their documents for verification within the specified period of time, So in this respect candidates are advised to prepare their documents now. Eligibility Criteria for JEE Advanced Counselling and Seat Allotment 2017

  • To appeared in the JEE Advanced 2017 counselling, candidates must qualified in the JEE Mains and need to secured the acceptable rank for JEE Advanced 2017.
  • For admission to IITs, the candidates must be within the category-wise top 20 percentile of successful candidates in their respective class 12th or equivalent board exam.
JEE Advance Counselling Procedure:

Online Registration:

After qualifying the JEE Advanced Examination, candidates have to register themselves for JEE Advance Counselling. Without registration, the seat will not be allotted to the candidates.

Choice Filling:

After Successful JEE Advance Counselling registration, candidates have to fill courses & Institutions according to their preference in decreasing order. Candidates have to fill as many choices as possible. Candidates can change their choices and add new ones till the final locking.

Choice Lock:

Candidates must have to lock their choices after select the courses & institutions. If candidates don’t lock their choices, their last saved choices will be locked automatically.

Seat Allotment Letter:

After the choice locking, candidates will get an SMS/Email regards to the seat allotment. Candidates have to download their seat allotment letter from the official link and need to appear in the JEE Advance seat allotment procedure. Seats will be allotted to the candidates as per the Courses and the institutes choose by the candidates.

Seat Acceptance:

Candidates who allotted a seat must have to deposit the seat acceptance fee to confirm their seats. They also have to verify their documents at any reporting center for provisional seat acceptance. Candidates can pay the fee through e-Challan/SBI Net Banking. In 2016, the seat acceptance fee is Rs.20000 for SC/ST/SC-PwD/ST-PwD/GEN-PwD/OBC-NCL-PwD & for all other Candidates Rs. 45000.

Reporting at the Allotted College:

Within a few weeks of seat acceptance, all the IITs & ISM will publish their reporting schedule on the official site. The schedule and venues for introductory courses will be announced separately. Candidates have to report at the allotted college in a given time period.

Documents Required at the time of JEE Advance Counseling:

Documents required at the Time of Seat Acceptance at the Reporting Center are as following:

  • Two passport size photographs
  • Provisional seat allotment letter
  • Proof of seat acceptance fee payment
  • Photo identity card
  • JEE Advanced 2017 Admit Card
  • Birth Certificate
  • Class 10+2 Marksheet & Passing Certificate
  • Category certificate
  • PwD Certificate
JEE Advanced 2017 Dual Reporting

As per the Joint Seat Allocation Authority norms, a one-time opportunity will be given for Registration, Online Choice Filling and Dual Reporting. In the process of Dual Reporting, candidates can switch one institute from another. If the candidates have been allotted seat in NITs + System Changes and want to switch in IIT/ISM, candidates will use the Dual Report.

If candidate had confirmed their seats in NITs+System Charges but wants to opt the IITs/ISM, then they are required to report once again in the subsequent counselling rounds. The same procedure will be followed for the withdrawal of seats. The candidate wants to withdraw from the seat allocated in IITs/ISM, will have to report in the next counselling round for allocation of seats in NITs

The seat quota under Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counselling 2017 are:

For IITs and IIITs

All India – It is open to all the candidates.

For NITs

  • State Quota: Those candidates who are belong to the same state Code of Eligibility on that respective Institute, they can get the State Quota Reservation.
  • Other State Quota – Includes candidates whose State Code of Eligibility does not match with that of the Institute.

For GFTIs

  • Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi and IIEST, Shibpur – Home State and Other State Quota
  • Assam University – All Indian and Home State
  • Other GFTIs – Only All India

Seat Reservation Policy:

The following reservation policy is followed for admission to various courses:

  • 27% seats are reserved for OBC (non-creamy layer )
  • 15% for SC and 7.5% for ST category candidates
  • Allotment of seats to qualified persons with Physical Disabilities ( PwD ) belonging to GE, OBC ( NCL ), SC, and ST categories, will be made category-wise in JEE Advanced 2017.
  • Up to 3% of the total seats available in each category in each of the institutes will be made available to the PwD candidates.
  • Two seats are available for preferential allotment in each institute for children of defence / time operations ( DS ).
