General Intelligence & Reasoning: General Intelligence & Reasoning includes questions of both verbal and non-verbal type. The test will include questions on the following topics. The test will also include questions designed to test the candidate’s abilities to deal with abstract ideas and symbols and their relationship, arithmetical computation, and other analytical functions.

General Awareness: Questions will be made to check the ability of the applicant’s general awareness of environment and its application to society. Questions will also be designed to test knowledge of Current Events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspects as may be expected of an educated person. The test will also include questions relating to the following topics. These questions will be such that they do not require a special study of any discipline.

English Language & Comprehension: In addition to testing of applicant’s understanding of the English Language, its vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms and its correct usage, etc. his/her writing ability, will also be evaluated.

SSC Stenographer Paper Pattern

Candidates who are interested in stenographer exam can check this Syllabus of SSC Stenographer. This exam is conducted for 200 marks for the subjects of general Intelligence, General Awareness, and English Language. This General Intelligence is conducted for 50 marks, General Awareness for 50 marks and English language for 100 marks. Negative marking will be 0.25 marks for each question.

Total examination will conduct in two shifts one is in the morning shift from morning 10 to 12 pm or else in the afternoon shift from 2 to 4 pm. After qualifying in this exam, they will conduct skill test in this skill test they will conduct typing test for 100 words per minute in English and Hindi. They will conduct 50 minutes for English test and 65 minutes for Hindi test for group D and 40 minutes in English and 55 minutes in Hindi for group C.

Skill Test in Stenography

Applicants who will qualify in the written exam may appear for Skill Test. Staff Selection Commission may also prescribe qualifying marks in each part of Written Exam. The skill Test is qualifying in nature and organization will fix the qualifying standards in the skill test for various categories of applicants. Skill Test is necessary for the applicants to appear in Skill Test.

Applicants will be given one dictation for 10 minutes in English / Hindi at the speed of 100 w.p.m. for the post of Stenographer Grade C‟ and 80 w.p.m. for the post of Stenographer Grade D‟. VH applicants will be required to transcribe the matter in 75 minutes for English Shorthand or in 100 minutes for Hindi Shorthand for the post of Stenographer Grade D‟ and in 70 minutes for English Shorthand test and in 95 minutes for Hindi Shorthand test for the post of Stenographer Grade C‟.
